    Product Development
Clients often need help taking a good product and turning it into something great. That is where design and creativity can make all the difference. A t-shirt has little perceived value. But if it has a swanky design on it that appeals to a specific target audience, it evolves from being a piece of clothing into a coveted and collectible lifestyle accessory. Here are several examples of how we turned ordinary items—everything from apparel, to stationery, to home decor, and school supplies—into successful lines of products.

    FARM BOY/FARM GIRL

Creating designs for such a hip client as Farm Boy was a real honor. They already have a full line of very cool products, so we were a bit intimidated by the high bar their collection has already set! Nevertheless, we rolled up our sleeves and put in several honest days’ work.

These two designs were aimed at guys, so we had Andy plow deep into his fertile imagination to create the art.

     ART & SOUL OF AMERICA

We took 100 of our most popular American Travel posters and shrunk them down to postcard size, creating a lovely collectible postcard set. We created 3 specially designed boxes to divide up each group of cards—one for Western cities, one for National Parks, and one for Eastern cities. If you line up the backs of the 3 boxes, you get a swanky all-American scene!

    SPIRIT OF NASHVILLE

After producing a series of poster art to celebrate our hometown of Nashville, we published a beautiful 9' x 12" full-color, 128-page coffee table book. It features over 100 of our favorite poster designs and includes historic information and text to create a unique tour of Music City.

    NATIONAL PARKS
5 years ago, we set out to create at least one poster for each of the 59 National Parks. Along the way, Joel and his son Nathan traveled to several parks gathering reference, photos, and inspiration for a book that would eventually combine the entire poster series with a wealth of photos and interesting information.

    GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS
After producing 40 original Smokies posters and oil paintings, we compiled historic photos, facts and travel tips so we could publish another book. Historian and Smokies expert Daniel S. Pierce joined Joel and Nathan Anderson to write a truly spectacular narrative that covers just about everything you would ever want to know about America's most visited National Park.

    NATIONAL PARKS

Here's a product that we don't get to work on everyday. We had enough posters in our National Parks Series to turn into a deck of playing cards, so we designed a pattern for the back that would fit the theme!

We took our poster art and redrew each composition by hand to create 64 coloring pages that feature all 59 of the National Parks plus 5 bonus pages of popular native animals. We also included 8 full-color pages with reference imagery of our original poster designs, plus quotes from famous nature lovers like Theodore Roosevelt and John Muir.

    2017 Solar Eclipse

To commemorate the historic once-in-a-lifetime experience, we created 5 Total Eclipse posters. The Path of Totality could be seen across the USA on August 21, 2017. To be ready for this experience, we created postcard sets that included two pairs of protective glasses. We also produced t-shirts which promptly sold out.

    SPIRIT OF NASHVILLE

It all started with our line of classic posters created to celebrate Nashville’s history and charm. Once the poster art was done, the next logical step was to put the art on high-end gifts and collectibles.

    SPIRIT OF NASHVILLE

Licensing is a great way to deepen a product line. Once a brand is established, it’s easy to partner up with makers of other products that appeal to the same target audience. In this case, we’ve lent our Music City designs to a southern shortbread maker, Willa’s Shortbread. It’s a match made in heaven—he sells more cookies, and we extend our product line into new categories!

A tote bag is a logical extension to a line that already has everything! We created a pattern that featured the most popular Spirit of Nashville designs and icons, and we embellished a canvas tote. Chicks dig it.
